What is MLS Laser Therapy?
The MLS (multi-locked system) Laser is the leading laser treatment therapy for the reduction of pain, inflammation and arthritis in the body. Cleared by the FDA, MLS laser therapy is a painless, drugless, noninvasive way to help you recover from painful and costly injuries and conditions. The laser uses concentrated light energy to stimulate the body's own healing process using two different wavelengths of light described below for optimal results:
- 808 nm- provides an anti-inflammatory and anti-edema effect in the treatment area via a continuous wave delivery
- 905 nm- provides analgesic effects (pain relief) along with some of the same effects provided by the 808 nm wavelength via a pulsed mode of delivery
Using both of these wavelengths at the same time provides a cumulative therapeutic effect versus just one wavelength on its own- hence why the MLS laser is cutting edge and unique compared to other Class IV lasers. The effects of the laser to produce the body's own natural healing response are increased cellular activity over the treatment area to:
- Increase enzyme production
- Increase mitochondria ATP synthesis (energy production)
- Increase vasodilation (blood flow)
- Increase lymphatic drainage (reduce swelling)
- Increase the production of collagen substrates to reduce scar tissue

What can I expect when I come to get treated with MLS Laser Therapy?
The first step in receiving MLS Laser Therapy is a consultation with one of our providers to see if Laser Therapy is the right choice of care for your condition. While MLS Laser Therapy is safe, pain-free, and has no known side effects, there are certain conditions that preclude a patient from receiving treatment with Laser Therapy. Together, we will go over your treatment plan and any questions or concerns you may have before initiating treatment. For most conditions, it is recommended you have 3 sessions per week for a minimum of 2 weeks for the best outcome. MLS Laser Therapy treatment sessions last an average of approximately 10-15 minutes.
The MLS Laser needs to be applied directly to clean, lotion free skin, and you will be instructed on how to bare the area to be treated to maintain modesty. Once the laser is set up and turned on, you should not feel anything because it is a cold light laser, although occasionally you may feel a slight warming sensation in the area being treated. Most people see results within the first 24 to 48 hours following their treatments due to the bio-stimulation effects. The chiropractor will check your progress during the course of your treatment sessions to evaluate the effectiveness of the laser on your unique condition and make any necessary changes.
As of now, few insurance companies pay for MLS Laser Therapy, but we accept cash payments with discounts when you pay for your sessions in advance. The cost of 1 session is $60, 6 sessions is $300, and 12 sessions is $540.
